Trainees report on their tasks

Implementing their own ideas, taking on responsibility, working together on projects, and much more awaits junior staff during their training at Wirthwein Medical GmbH & Co. KG. Once again this year, the Mühltal-based company recruits trainees in the professions of tool mechanic and process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology, as well as in the commercial field as industrial clerk. Three trainees report on the tasks of the individual vocational training professions.

Pascal Maurice Rillich, 19 years, process mechanic trainee for plastics and rubber technology, 1st year of training

„"As a process mechanic, I oversee the production of our plastic products for the medical sector. I set up the injection mold in the injection molding machine with the appropriate parameter settings. I also monitor the machine during ongoing production and correct minor faults. What I particularly like about the training is that we work on state-of-the-art machines and that I can quickly apply the knowledge I have gained independently."

Cesur Toprak, 19 years, tool mechanic trainee specializing in mold technology, 3rd year of training

"As a tool mechanic trainee, I learn to operate production machines, such as milling machines or turning lathes, and how I can use them to produce high-precision components. I also get to know the entire company structure and have the opportunity to assist in production processes. Maintenance and servicing of the injection molds and the production of components of an injection mold are also part of my training. These are not practice pieces, but are used in production and require maximum precision."

Lydia Erath, 19 years, industrial clerk trainee, 1st year of training

"Vocational training as an industrial clerk is fascinating and interesting in every respect, as I get insights into different divisions and departments. This allows me to decide during the apprenticeship in which area I would like to specialize later. At Wirthwein Medical, the proximity to the processes in production with independent participation and responsibility is given high priority during training. This gives me a good understanding of how production and commercial area are interlinked".

Good prospects for trainees

Wirthwein Medical GmbH & Co. KG makes an important contribution in the production and supply of plastic systems and components applied worldwide in the healthcare sector. In doing so, the diagnostics, medical technology and pharmaceutical expert relies on a strong and qualified team. Already this year, four trainees have successfully completed their training and have been taken on.

"For us, it is important that the trainees feel comfortable right from the start," emphasizes Human Resources Officer Hans-Walter Fronius. "That's why we try to not only provide our young colleagues with a technical qualification, but also to accompany and support them on a personal level in their professional career. The trainers, colleagues and trainees in the advanced years of training are therefore available to provide advice and support throughout the entire training period," Fronius continues.
